Refutation of Allegations Regarding Mr. Bowman Lusambo’s Activities in Kabwe

Share

The Zambia Police Service wishes to address and refute the recent allegations circulating on social media regarding Mr. Bowman Lusambo and the alleged distribution of Hungry Lion food packs to police officers in Kabwe.

Contrary to what has been reported, the Zambia Police Service can confirm the following:

  1. Events of 3, June 2024: Mr. Bowman Lusambo did purchase Hungry Lion food packs in Kabwe. However, these food packs were not intended for police officers.
  2. Police Patrols: At the time of the incident, police officers were engaged in routine patrols in the vicinity of the Hungry Lion outlet. Mr. Lusambo did not interact with the officers regarding the food packs, nor did he distribute any food to them.
  3. Distribution of Food Packs: The dumped food packs by Mr. Lusambo was later given to members of the public who were present around the Hungry Lion outlet. At no point were the food packs handed over to or received by the police officers on duty. What Mr. Lusambo did was to dump the food packs and walked away later got into his vehicle and drove off.
  4. Social Media Allegations: The allegations suggesting that Mr. Lusambo bought food for police officers are unfounded and misleading. Such misinformation can harm the public’s perception of both the police and individual police officers involved.

The Zambia Police Service takes such false reports seriously and urges the public to verify facts before spreading unverified information. Our commitment remains to serve the public with integrity and transparency, and we expect the same level of responsibility from our citizens and the media.

We appreciate the cooperation of the community in ensuring that accurate information is shared. We also encourage the public to report any suspicious activities or misinformation to the nearest police station.

  1. Sometimes its better to keep quiet

    • @Rae, stop insulting officers who eat the food. They didn’t eat food “dumped” like left to dogs.
Did you want Bowman to feed grown men one by one, because they were holding guns?

    • Arrest Bowman quick. Where did he get enough money to afford buying chickens for a battallion of police troops? Just like we have arrested Lungu’s daughter Chiyeso and her mum for being in possession of property that doesnt match their earnings, Lusambo should be brought to court for this Kabwe spending.

  2. There’s nothing wrong with sharing food with a fellow human being, be it a civilian or police man. Therefore I don’t see any reason why Mr Hamoonga is even talking about it.

    • @Shibu Kenny…. the only reason this has become an issue is because of the nature of the giver…. code of conduct not really…. When Zambia was a country we could ask a sentry to share food and he would sit down and take off his cap and join us. I bet you if the giver was Central province minister, we were not going know that some police officer had the opportunity to eat Hungry Lion food.

    • No Deja Vu, police are not human beings. What human being asks for bribes from everyone after getting his salary? What human being sees fellow citizens as a source of staple food and extra cash? What human being tortures another on behalf of a politician? What human being is happy to oppress on behalf of another?

  3. What Sane person goes into hungry lion purchases a lot of packs then dumps them outside and walks away ??
Anyone thinking this is normal needs attention

    • If I were HH I would take the police spokes person to task…. throwing food away is tantamount to economic sabotage.

  4. Lol, I mean there are pictures and videos of the guys being given food. Manje what’s the problem if they received Hungry Lion?
This is nonsensical at best. Why bother refuting? Is it a crime for an officer to receive food?
I personally hand out water to traffic officers, should Hamonga come to the media and start refuting?
Why make a big deal out of absolutely nothing?

  5. What would be wrong with anybody buying food for the Police. In any case it would be a miracle for you to agree to this story even if food was bought. What you fear are sanctions from your appointing authority. Obviously banadya, banakuta

    • It is simply conduct unbecoming for an officer in uniform to receive and consume food while on duty. There are duty breaks reserved for such

    • @Muzambian. Getting food and eating it while on duty is an offense just as telling lies by an officer of ZP. In all sincerity Mr Hamoonga should have simply said WE’RE INVESTIGATING AND AND ACTION WILL BE TAKEN rather than denying something that’s on video. That’s living in coockoo country.

  6. The officer in charge of the patrol should have politely advised Bowman to donate his food to members of the public for ..it is unbecoming to receive ‘gifts’ including food from a civilian when one is on duty and in uniform. The gesture may be misunderstood. The pictures showed Bowman emerging from the food outlet then he appears to have placed what was in his hands onto the police vehicle. What we do not have access to.. is the items being distributed to members of the public by the ghost hand of the police.

  7. @ Wamene.Correct..And Police should have arrested Bowman Lusambo immediately for Assault on Police. His act to put food on a police vehicle amounts to touching a policeman in uniform,an affront to our men in uniform
