I dont see what the ranking of kingdoms will contribute to our new republic. We should move forward together proudly displaying our various cultures and that is where people like you the Bemba King come in.

If you venture into our continent’s history, you will find that these rankings were done by the coloniser for his purposes of divide and rule. I’ve noticed that the Zulu in South Africa often want to remind other tribes that their Kingdom was recognised by the colonisers before others were recognised post 1994. I’ve seen similar arguments on LT. These are just being divisive.

In my Geography lessons during KK’s time we learnt about the source of the Congo River. Chambeshi River has been known for a long time as being the source of Luapula River, entering the lake and coming out as Luapula. It goes on to become the Lualaba and later the Congo River. The chief should have argued against this attestation during colonialism. Geographers please help the chief.

If stakeholders like the bemba chief were consulted when preparing the authority this was not going to happen.

The confrontational style is the only style the current Chitimukulu knows to put his points across to other people. The paramount chieftainship in whose glory he loves to wrap himself in is for all practical purposes a colonial creation which he doesn’t even need. The position already existed in the Bemba traditional government, as it did in every tribe. The colonial reinforcement was superfluous like so-called Christian names.

Even in the DRC,the cathment area for Luapula river also extends in areas beyond the environs of the Luapula River itself. So if Tanganyika and some parts of the Northern Province are included into the area to fall under the Luapula River Authority, it means there are some waters that flow from there that feed into the Luapula river. There is no need for hysteria!!

Several lodges have been built on the banks of the Zambezi river and they do not get their licences from the ZRA. It’s for all practical purposes the KRA, Kariba Dam Authority. It seems the proposed Luapula River Authority will be different.

That’s probably why it’s not part of the other ZRA, the Zambezi River Authority.

But who’s going to listen ? Maybe me who has no influence at all.
